Description

Observing the important role the international community has played in Bosnia and Herzegovina throughout its post-war period and the lack of research about their role in the military sector, concentration is on the effects and the role of the international community’s presence on the hard security sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Not only the civilian peace keeping operation will be taken into account, but also the international military forces present in Bosnia and Herzegovina. To analyse the military sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, first a short summary of relevant articles of the Dayton Peace Agreement will be given. Furthermore, an overview of the local military sector will be given. To put the peace keeping mission in a broader prospective, two other peacekeeping operations will be examined in the second chapter. The third chapter will concentrate on a comparative analysis between the peacekeeping operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the respective operations in Kosovo and FYROM.
