In 2014, 46 servicemen died due to 42 incidents in the RA Armed Forces and Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army. This rate increased by 15 as compared with that of 2013. 26 out of the 46 recorded death cases were caused by ceasefire violations1; 6 cases – by accidents; 4 cases - homicide /2 premeditated homicides and the other 2 caused by breach of weapon use rules/; 3 cases - by violation of combat duty or service rules; 3 cases – by health problems and lack of adequate medical services; 3 cases - suicide (as stated in the criminal case) and 1 case – by breach of weapon use rules.
