ECMI projects have remained diverse, but they are conducted according to a common methodology. This methodology focuses on ways of enhancing the quality of the engagement between minorities and minority representative groups on the one hand, and government at the local, regional or national levels on the other. However, enhancing processes for the participation of minorities in public life in all its aspects is only a first step. What matters are the outputs of such processes. Minority and majority populations alike should be brought to experience in very concrete ways the benefits of life in a diverse society.
