Description:
The European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), launched jointly by the European Commission and the EIB Group – the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund – is part of an initiative to help mobilise private investments and catalyse new projects which implement strategic, transformative and productive investments with high economic, environmental and societal added value4. This initiative, the ’Investment Plan for Europe’, aims at: • triggering additional investment of at least EUR 315 billion over a three year period (mid-2015 to mid-2018) (pillar 1, role of the EFSI); • ensuring investments reach the real economy, e.g. via the creation of the European Investment Project Portal and by increasing technical assistance to project promoters through the European Investment Advisory Hub (pillar 2); and • improving the investment environment through policy reform.
