The Economic Status of National Minorities in Europe: a Four- Case Study
Publisher: ECMI Volume: 35 pages, pdf Description: Before embarking on an analysis of the causes and effects of the economic exclusion of minorities, we must first ask ourselves why we should prioritize the issue of economic exclusion of minorities at all. To begin with, we should ask whether historical minorities do, in fact, suffer from economic marginalization. If we find that they do not, then there is little reason to make this a major issue. We must then ask why, if the economic marginalization of minorities does indeed occur, it should be a major policy issue that governments and international organizations should take seriously. It is these questions that this introduction sets out to address.
