This paper aims to distinguish certain features of the impact of Europeanization on democratic transformations in Slovakia and Ukraine in comparative perspective in order to find out what role Europeanization plays in the democratic transformation of these countries. The comparison is conducted according to four main parameters: trends in the democratization process and political system development, the position and role of domestic political elites, the institutional and coordination structure for European integration and Europeanization processes, and the role of public opinion in the Europeanization process. The research was done according to modern theoretical concepts, which are presented in the first part of the paper.
