This study describes the status of open border issues that Croatia has with four neighbouring countries – Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. The rationale for preparing the study is to serve public interest and provide reliable and comprehensive information on each of the four cases. An equally important reason, which transcends the presentation of facts and figures, is to contribute to the overall sense of goodwill in addressing bilateral disputes in a spirit of mutual respect and goodneighbourly relations. The background study does not advocate any particular outcome or propose any final solution. Rather, the goal is to contribute to the process of trust-building necessary for resolving as delicate and sensitive issues as border delimitation for each country are.
