Description
With the Declaration of Independence on February 17th, 2008, the government institutions of the Republic of Kosovo committed themselves legally and politically to implement Ahtisaari’s Plan (Comprehensive Status Proposal - CSP). Based on the provisions of the Ahtisaari’s Plan, the Kosovo’s Assembly adopted the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo1 that entered in force on June 15th, 2008. The Constitution envisages the highest standards for protection of minority communities. Despite the fact that Kosovo has not ratified any international treaties regarding protection of human rights, social, political and minority rights, the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo envisages the self-applicability of most important international conventions, charters and other legal instruments that provide legal protection of minority communities according to the best international and European standards.
